The INNOFINLAND Prize Benefits Businesses

The ten-year-old INNOFINLAND Project looks for, raises as example and awards innovativeness that promotes wellbeing in Finland. The President of the Republic has been the patron of INNOFINLAND since 1994. During its history, INNOFINLAND has received 2,570 applications concerning innovations. In Finnish regions, we have awarded prizes to hundreds of entrepreneurs, research workers and inventors. National INNOFINLAND Prizewinners total 67.

Half of the Prizewinning Innovations Become More Known

Prizewinning businesses think that their INNOFINLAND Prize has benefited them. Thanks to INNOFINLAND, every fourth prizewinner has attracted new customers or has received more orders. At the same time, half of the businesses report that their innovation has become more known on the market. Up to 74% of the prizewinners report having obtained fame and honour. Almost all prizewinners have received more publicity in local, national or trade media.

Intellectual Property Promotes Business

In 2004, the theme for INNOFINLAND is ‘Creativity and SMEs − Intellectual Property and Innovation in the Promotion of Wellbeing’. The purpose is to highlight how the intellectual resources of SME entrepreneurs and the intellectual property system can be used to promote innovative activities, business and employment. Today, the intangible assets of a business − varying from intellectual capital and know-how to inventions, brands, designs and other products of creativity and innovation − are often more valuable than its tangible assets.
