Exel Nordic Walker walking poles
Exel Oyj manufactures in its Mäntyharju production plant in Southern Savo walking poles which have made it possible for nearly all groups of Finns?city dwellers in particular?to engage in the popular exercise of Nordic walking. Together with bodies like National Association for Recreational Sports and Outdoor Activities, Sports Institute of Finland and other organisations, the company has in recent years actively participated in the launching of this highly effective and many-sided exercise, which has grown into a national movement. Today well over 400,000 Nordic walkers of varying ages take at least once a week a brisk and rhytmic walk in parks, or on paths or pavements, in our country.
The Exel Nordic Walker walking poles, which are protected by patent and trademark, are, depending on the model, equipped with an ergonomically designed Aero Grip, an adjustable Evolution Strap for comfortable hand support, a Walker spiketip with a quick-release lock and naturally also shock-absorbing and grip-improving paws designed for walking on asphalt. These innovative walking poles, with a price range from 200 to 400 Finnish marks, are available both in carbon-fibre and glass-fibre construction, to adjust the needs and properties of the user. Nordic walking is not merely an equipment-oriented sport, it is also a form of social exercise to which the rule ?talking must be easy while walking? also applies.
In 1999, the Exel Oyj Group showed a turnover of 202 million Finnish marks and employed a staff of 247.
