Green Rock Oy from Ii develops and produces small-sized waste water treatment plants based on natural stone fibre filtering.
The stone fibre filter both filters waster water mechanically and functions as a culture medium for microbial growth that eats impurities from the water and decomposes the solid materials remaining in the water into water and carbon dioxide. As much as 8,000 sq.m of filtering area can be created out of one kilo of stone. The filtered washing, kitchen or toilet waters are returned to nature clean and odorless. If necessary, the water can be recycled and used for example for watering plants.
The energy used in manufacturing Green Rock small water refineries is biogas. The small refinery, true to its name, takes only little space and no electricity is needed to use it. Compared to traditional filtering methods, very little stone material is needed, and consequently the Green Rock refineries also save gravel ridges. A used filter can be destroyed by composting. All other materials too are recyclable.
Managing Director Juha Huhta has several patents and design rights for Green Rock?s products and methods. Green Rock started its operations in the beginning of the 1990?s as part of Partek engineering group, and as an independent company in 1998. At that time the company had two products. So far Green Rock has delivered its products to 23 countries and the trademark Green Rock has been registered in over 100 countries.
