Innofinland 1994–2011 – From an idea to a product and onto the market
Innofinland, the project for promoting Finnish innovation led by the National Board of Patents and Registration (NBPR), was active from 1994 to 2011. The project included the following forms of activity: the regional contests, the nationwide Innofinland Contest, the Innofinland Prizes of the President of the Republic, the Innoint Invention Contest for Conscripts, and the Innoschool Innovation Events for school pupils. Innofinland in its present form was disbanded at the end of 2011, and the NBPR will no longer act as the organisation responsible for the project in the future.
Innofinland was supported by: the Association for Finnish Work; the Central Chamber of Commerce of Finland; the Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Centres); the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK); the Federation of Finnish Enterprises; the Finnish Enterprise Agencies; the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation (Tekes); the Foundation for Finnish Inventions; the Ministry of Employment and the Economy; the Ministry of the Environment; the National Board of Patents and Registration; and Åland Technology Center.
A new type of contest to promote Finnish innovation is now under consideration.
